It is an East-West shoulder bag of generous proportions, with a soft, slouchy body that drapes naturally under the arm. The Details

The character is in the straps. Two long shoulder straps run down the body of the bag, held in place by buckles, with their ends left to hang free — a detail that is part utility, part ornament. A zip closes the bag, and the unstructured silhouette lets it settle against the body rather than stand away from it.
